The Ecstasy of Being Ordinary

Yippee, It's February!

I know a lot of people don't like February. There's the weather for a start. But I don't mind it. I mean, it's a short month and will fly by. Look how fast January went and that is reallllly long.

Plus there's Valentine's Day (a bit of a non day here, sniff) and Pancake Day (what's not to love?) and seed sowing to be getting on with (now, you're going to have to see my other blog for what I'm up to there).

And it's a step closer to spring.

We, like nearly everyone else, have had a snow day. Which delighted nearly all of the children in the Ordinary House (a couple cried because the snow made their hands hurt despite gloves). What they all loved was school being closed.

To help the month along a bit I've got a couple of projects lined up, which I'm sure I'll waffle on about at some point. How do you while away the time waiting til spring?

A Little Patience Pays Off......

I am missing the beautiful frosty weather. Although I didn't get out down the lane and into the fields the day I wanted, my patience eventually paid off.

Grabbing the dog lead I set off for a quick jaunt, camera slung round my neck. I am using walking as a means to get fit (probably more of that another day) and quite often I'm torn between a quick, puffy pace and an amble through my lens.

At the weekend, the camera won. How could it not? But it was also a quick walk; I had a new four-year-old to play with and her birthday cake to make. But a headache and an in-law overdose found me heading for the hills.

 

I literally soaked up all of that beauty, filled my lungs and headed home refreshed and headache free. Although I didn't skate on the frozen ponds round here (unlike many others) I did enjoy the frosty spectacle in my own way.
